Album Tracks.
"The Guv'nor" was a series of albums with out-takes and live performances of groups that contained Ashley Hutchings.
There were 5 volumes from 1993 to 2002. A box set of the same albums was also
issued. In most cases the first one or two tracks generated the most interest
because of the huge fan-base for Fairport Convention and Sandy Denny. Since
then, some of these tracks have appeared elsewhere - either as "extra"
tracks on re-issued versions of albums, or as boxed sets of rarities. Some of
the session musicians appearing in the set have had solo careers, notably
Richard Thompson, Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy, Phil Pickett and Julie
Covington. Cathy Lesurf and Alan Prosser were in an early incarnation of the
OysterBand. Simon Nicol appears almost as often as Ashley himself. Possibly the
most startling tracks are the instrumentals with a recorder and folk-rock
backing, since the Albion band were unique proponents of this combination.
