A.L. Lloyd (1908 - 1982)
English singer of English and Australian songs, writer on folk music and
editor of anthologies of recorded European folk music.
(Full name: Albert Lancaster Lloyd. Also known as Bert Lloyd.
Born in Wandsworth, London but lived in Australia
for many years and worked on whaling ships. Author of books:
"The Singing Englishman" (1941)
"Come All Ye Bold Miners" (1952)
"Folk Song In England" (1967)
Editor of "The Penguin Book of English Folk Songs"
together with Ralph Vaughan Williams (1959))
