Curry and Rice Waltz

A modified Contra Dance, copyright © 2011 James Prescott

 

Curry and Rice Waltz

 

A longways set for as many couples as will, duple improper, each lord on the lady's left. Active couples face down, inactive couples face up.

 

This dance is a modified Savin Hill Hornpipe (traditional). The dance's title is a reference to the BBC radio comedy show, The Goon Show.

 

A1 Actives take two hands with your neighbour and balance (use the step towards & away version), and then with two hands turn your neighbour one and a half times to change places.

The result is improper progressed.
A2 Long lines forward & back, and as you fall back the woman rolls across in front of the man (turn to left to face man taking two hands, then turn further to left dropping your left hand and fall into place to the left of your neighbour) while the man moves to the right.

Long lines forward & back, and as you fall back the man rolls across in front of the lady while the lady moves to the right.

The result is improper progressed.
B1 Ladies chain across.

Ladies chain back.

The result is improper progressed.
B2 All balance and swing your partner (long swing), actives finish facing down, inactives finish facing up).

The result is improper progressed.
